All right. Well, thank you so much. And I know I'm standing between you and lunch, so we'll just get this moving this year.
Last year I talked about brain tumors and that was a very focused talk and focused on specific therapies, et cetera. And this year, I decided to kind of turn that around. And the goal of what I want to talk to you about is something that we often assume is going on in cancer treatment of any kind.
But often it's easy to lose sight of it because we, the doctors, get so busy with the other treatments we're trying to do, the patient gets busy, et cetera. And the reason that I think that some of these things that we assume are happening that don't happen is that not not by the fault of anyone, but just the fault of we're not mindful of them.
And the reason I wanted to talk about this today is I look back at the 25 years I've been working with people who have cancer and started to look for what what strung together the cases that worked better and what was in common with cases that worked worse. And what I found as we went along and I was involved in research and all of these things was it was less about the specific therapies and it was more about the foundation of the person who was dealing with the therapies and the cancer.
And so then that got me to thinking, well, how much energy are we putting into making sure that our patients are doing these things? And is there a way I can distill this down?
So if you feel you have a handout coming, that will be important in a moment.
This is my pedigree, if you need one. I've done research with the NIH on alternative cancer therapies. We have a center in Seattle where we do this. I consult for a number of places in other countries. So I always say if I if I say something that's illegal to do in the U.S., I'm talking about my experience in another country.
The other thing is occasionally it's true. That's true. So if you're listening from the government, that's what I'm talking about.
I go occasionally to the Food and Drug Administration or the FDA, and I testify about the integrative cancer and other therapies. And I'll be going there in about a week to do that again. Let me tell you, that is not a warm welcome that you get when you're back there talking about these things. So he's kind of moved through the pictures of where I work,
