Why don't you all stand up while I'm about a minute, stretched a little bit, rub each other's backs. I know you needed it after that last lecture. I'm here to give you some positive news now. Get some healthy seed in your diet.
OK. We already begin now.
This should be the best lecture of the whole series, I think. A little bit of modesty there.
Well, you know, I'm just the messenger. The message is the important part, right? I'm I'm bringing essentially God's seed to you. I'm going to tell you a little bit about the science part of it. How many people in the room currently use flaxseed, whether it's brown or gold? Wow, that's incredible. OK. Just show a hands again. Brown seed.
Gold seed. OK. Well, when I'm done, I convince you that the gold is great. Gold is good. Brown is OK.
If you're really on a budget, then you'll go for the brown stuff at the health food store. OK, well, I'm Michael Bet.
Optimal research, I've been dealing with flaxseed research for the past several years since I met Rick Heintzman and is Rick Heintzman in the room, whereas whereas the ultimate farmer here is he's sitting somewhere hiding. OK, I've asked him to come here because he he's the farmer, he'll be in the back of the booth on the other side of where the author signed the book. There's a booth back there where you can find some flaxseed. Anyway, he's a great guy. He's he's a rocket scientist of farmers. I think I'm have a lot of respect for him.
OK. Just as a quick overview on flaxseed contents, this may be old for some and new for others, just as a quick overview. Omega three oils, water, omega 3s. Those are the short chain fatty acids that are that are great. Those are the good fats. It comprises about 41 percent of the total seed weight. You have a lot of high fiber, both soluble and insoluble fiber. You have these compounds called ligands. And I'll get into a little bit more of each of these areas as we go along.
We have a lignin is not a lignin in I and it's a lignin and a man. And there's several of these ligands that are in flaxseed. Then you have the minerals, quite a few minerals in this stuff. It's really incredible magnesium. Much as perhaps you need. Fifteen hundred milligrams a day for women in terms of the calcium content. But nature was interesting in putting in quite a variety of things in this one little scene.
Then there's the amino acids protein. A good
