Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and thank you for spending your Labor Day weekend with us. Thank you for coming. For Cancer Control Society. And thank you for attending my meeting. My topic is going to be on cancer, stem cell and nutraceutical. And this is an updated version of my presentation last year in Barcelona. When I was invited by BEATTIES tend to annual awards, cancer, Congress to give it talk there. And this was my topic because I thought that it's a time to talk about new treatments of cancer, and that's the targeted therapy for a stem cell of the cancer cells. And since it was a popular talk last year, I turned a bit there sharing it with you today.
Rene Davis was a discoverer of the antibiotic. The one that we use it in clinical use is he was a biologist, microbiologist, environmentalist, pathologies, writer, humanist. And he says, I have always felt that the only trouble with scientific medicine is that it is not scientific enough. Mother medicine will become really scientific only when physicians and their patients have learned to manage the forces of their body and mind that operates via healing power of nature.
So I totally believe that we are going to be better physicians if we integrate the power of nature and healing power of nature in whatever we are going to do with our patients.
Cancer is a board vote, probably every sixth death in the ward is due to cancer, making it the second leading cause of death. The first use of chemotherapy agents to treat cancer patients was discovered in early 20th century. And ever since then, it has become the bases of discovery and development of most current cancer, anti cancer drugs.
I'll do a large majority of chemotherapeutic drugs can considerably shooting it to more sizes. They often fail to eradicate tumors, and their cancer may eventually develop drug resistance and recurrence. In recent years, a great deal of research has demonstrated the existence of cancer stem cells or two more initiating cells in several human cancers. Therefore, the cancerous stem cells population has become a target for cancer prevention and terror. Let's see what the stem cells are and what is the difference between the regular is themselves and the cancer stem cells you all know about, the STEM says there are a lot of treatments are giving to these days for joint repair and other things.
