Obesity, Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome
In this video, Joel Wallach spends about 22 minutes speaking on "Obesity, Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome" at the 34th Annual Cancer Convention held on Labor Day weekend by the Cancer Control Society.
About Joel Wallach
JOEL WALLACH, B.S., D.V.M., N.D. received his B.S. in Agriculture & Nutrition from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri in 1962 and his Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri in 1964. He received his Post Doctoral Fellowship in Comparative Medicine from the Center for the Biology of Natural Systems, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri in 1968.
His theory that Cystic Fibrosis is caused by a nutritional deficiency (selenium, zinc, copper, B-2) before and after pregnancy, caused him to be fired within 24 hoursā notice from his job with Yerkes Primate Research Center in Atlanta, Georgia. His nutritional theory was not compatible with the traditional medical theory which holds that the disease is genetically transmitted. After learning that nutrition prevented diseases in animals, he decided to apply this knowledge to humans and earned his N.D. (Naturopathic Physician) Degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Portland, Oregon in 1982.
Dr. Wallach is an internationally known educator, lecturer, clinician and author. He has written more than 70 peer review articles on Nutrition and Pharmacology and has contributed to 8 multi-author medical texts and reference books. He is the author of his own text/reference book on Comparative Medicine (W.B. Saunders Co.) and a book on self help (Wholistic Press). He and his wife Ma Lan, M.D. are the co-editors of āHealth Consciousnessā magazine.
Dr. Wallach is best known for his work in trace minerals and is the Chairman of the Board of Youngevity. He was recently awarded the 2011 Klaus Schwarz medal by the Biological Trace Element Research Foundation for his landmark research that revealed the relationship between a congenital deficiency of selenium and the genesis of Cystic Fibrosis.

Oh, thank you very much. And freesheet, the kind words, Frank, and always appreciate being here, the Cancer Control Society meeting and Lorraine and her crew and Frank and his droids do such a great job. What do we give him? A big who on three.
All right. Kind of wake everybody up.
I've got about 30 minutes here to give a five hour talk. So I got to tell you the whole story in the book, which is the title of my talk this afternoon, Hell's Kitchen and get Hell's Kitchen, of course, at the dead. Doctors don't lie. Booth, we're going to talk about obesity, diabetes and the metabolic syndrome, all of which are risk factors for cancer. And it seems appropriate. And as Frank mentioned, I started out my career as a veterinarian and we learn in veteran medicine that we could prevent and cure diseases in animals, a little nutritional forum list because we didn't have health insurance for them. And so we began to put their nutrients in these little alfalfa pellets, which we've all seen. We have little pellets for mice and rats and guinea pigs and the hamsters and gerbils and rabbits. And we have dry and canned dog and cat food. And we have pellets for sheep and pigs and horses and chickens and turkeys and ducks and llamas and trout and monkeys. Parrots. And the reason why we put the animal feeds into these little alfalfa pellets is so that the animal can't sort through and just eat only the sunflower seeds. Every mouthful is perfect. And as a result, we've been able to eliminate nine hundred different diseases in animals over the last seventy five years, all of which still plague people. And as a veterinarian, it always seemed odd to me that we would use that technology for animals. Nobody is in it for people. So I became a nature pathic physician. And by the way, naturopathic physicians are now licensed in the state of California. So instead of being able to give you advice. Now I can treat you. And so when you come by the booth, let us know if you want some nature pathic help. We don't charge people office calls. We don't charge people copayments if we use our programs. All that's free. What? What a concept. No copayments and no office fees. Whoa. Okay, I'll start a new thing here. At any rate, started in 1978 using these little veterinary nutritional formalism by human patients. And I'm here to tell you that the concept of preventing and curing diseases in animals and nutritional formulas works the same as it does people or vice versa.
