Phytonutrients, Cancer
In this video, John Wise spends about 28 minutes speaking on "Phytonutrients, Cancer" at the 32nd Annual Cancer Convention held on Labor Day weekend by the Cancer Control Society.

The message from the last decade or two decades, really from research scientists is that increased intakes of fruits and vegetables have a protective role against chronic diseases, in particular cancer. And for the past decade, health agencies worldwide have recommended that individuals increase their dietary intake of fruits and vegetables. And the reason for this message is that what the research shows is that increased consumption of fruits and vegetables reduced the risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke, osteoporosis, macular degeneration, cataracts, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Alars and diabetes. And in terms of cancer, there have been a number of studies, this slide summarizes an analysis of the various studies on cancer and shows that virtually all types of cancer. The risk is greatly reduced with the increased consumption of fruits and vegetables.
And this appears to be attributed to the phyto nutrients that are present in fruits and vegetables.
These are biologically active compounds. Well over ten thousand of them have been identified. And they're an integral part of the human diet. We our bodies have evolved, consuming these vital nutrients on a regular basis. And although any one of them are not essential for human health. Collectively, phyto nutrients from fruits and vegetables are essential for human health and optimal health. So these protective effects reduce the risk of chronic diseases. There are multiple mechanisms of action of these phyto nutrients. Mechanisms are both generalized and disease specific, and the relative risk status can be determined by biomarker assessment. If you look at the different classes of phyto nutrients, there are many.
The carotid noise, ISIL scientists, polyphenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins and bio flavonoids phyto Estrogen's phenolic compounds, sap, wynans, phyto sterols, sulfides and files. This is a typical flavonoids type compound.
All the R's indicate different sites at which substitutions can be made to make the compounds different.
So this is a katka and these are commonly found in T's various types of ISO flavonoids.
And I'm showing these just to give you an idea of the variety of chemical compounds. This is also from green tea. Monov, Turpin, IDE's tried terpene, IEDs, hydrous dynamic acids in dolls, ISO Thylacine, AIt's allelic compounds found in garlic and onions. Organic suffers. And if you look at what these protective effects are, there are generalized protective mechanisms, one being antioxidant protection. Also, these compounds can reduce homocysteine levels which increase the risk for cancer, as well as a whole number of other diseases, can reduce DNA damage in the cells and improve immune function.
And then there are protective mechanisms other than add Occident protection inhibition of initiation, which is the start of tumor form, tumor cell
