Cell Phones, Cell Towers

In this video, Lawrence Gust spends about 22 minutes speaking on "Cell Phones, Cell Towers" at the 34th Annual Cancer Convention held on Labor Day weekend by the Cancer Control Society.

About Lawrence Gust

LAWRENCE GUST, B.S.E.E. received his Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He has a 25-year business background with two Fortune 500 companies. He studied environmental technology at the International Institute for Building Biology and Ecology (IBE), Clearwater, Florida (www.baubiologieusa.com) and was certified as a Building Biology Environmental Consultant (BBEC) in 1992. He continues to teach at the Institute and is a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Gust is a Certified Mold Remediator (CMR) through the Indoor Air Quality Association (www.iaqa.org).

He is the Founder of Gust Environmental, a company that serves the Southern California area. His company specializes in a complete assessment of indoor environmental health factors. Assessments are made using environmental guidelines developed by IBE rather than the less stringent industry or governmental standards.

Mr. Gust has the confidence of Holistic Healthcare Practitioners who refer patients when the case suggests that the home or working environment is part of the problem. These assessments include evaluation for mold, mildew, chemical and electromagnetic pollution, factors that can degrade the health supporting nature of the home. He has evaluated and recommended remedial measures in over 1000 residential and commercial buildings since 1993 and has also consulted on the environmental aspects of more than a dozen new homes and offices.

Mr. Gust recently appeared on the NBC Today Show in the segment Is Your Home Making You Sick? The clip of this appearance can be viewed at his website www.healbuildings.com. This site also contains useful information about indoor environmental issues.

Mr. Gust has offices in Ventura and San Diego, California and may be contacted by phone 805-644-2008 and email [email protected].

So can you hear me? That's good. It's a pleasure to be here, and I thank the Cancer Control Society for the opportunity to be able to bring this information to you. We'll talk about the body electric before we get into specifically cellular telephones.

I'd like to talk about the fact that there are not there a lot of factors that are involved in our environment and that affect our health. And you see these on the screen today. We're going to focus ourselves on electromagnetic and electromagnetic environment. But be aware that there's many other areas in terms indoor air quality, acoustic environment, personal environment, you know, how you eat, how you exercise, how you think that all have an effect on the kinds of medical problems you might get. So over here, we're going to be taking a look at the electromagnetic radiations, in particular communications and via electromagnetic radiation or EMR.

Be aware that there are things dealing with the power systems which are involving the power supplies that we have in our homes and buildings, as well as the effects of natural light and natural radiation, color and light and so forth. So with that to help you to focus in on where this fits to the entire spectrum of effects on people, we can go on and take a look at electro biology, which is the science of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation. This is the effect of magnetic fields, electric fields, radio frequency radiation, which is what we're going to focus on this afternoon and its effect on living organisms. The Institute for Building Biology, which I teach at, and the member the board directors specializes in looking at these sort of factors in living environments. The electromagnetic spectrum, I think, is the place we should start. That is the spectrum which defines how the various radiations we have in our modern environment are actually fitting together. And this is all relate on the basis of frequency and frequency is the vibration rate of whatever phenomena we're measuring. Or to say another way, it's the number of times as this phenomena is repeating itself in a given interval of time. So if we look at then the electromagnetic spectrum, which is what you see shown up here, it's defined by frequency from low frequency and no vibration or zero cycles per second, all the way up two very, very high frequency. You'll notice some interesting things about this down here at the very low or they call extremely low frequencies. We have human components of our human body vibrate at rates in that area. Then as we get into the presentation today, you're going to
