About Joseph Montante
JOSEPH MONTANTE, M.D. received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry in 1971 and his Medical Degree in 1975 from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. After completing a Medical-Surgical Internship at St. John’s Hospital in Detroit, and a year of Ophthalmology Residency at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Dr. Montante became and is currently a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Following 2 years of practice as a Family Physician in the inner city of Detroit, he decided to make a career change to Holistic Medicine, and began by studying Applied Kinesiology with George Goodheart D.C.
Dr. Montante then completed the Kelly Metabolic Therapy training program at the International Health Institute in Chicago, Illinois, and became a Certified Kelly Physician in 1980. Shortly after, he moved to Boulder, Colorado, apprenticed under Dwight McKee, M.D. and is currently there practicing Complimentary Medicine. He employs the Kelly Metabolic Therapy in his work with cancer patients and has advanced the method to develop and author the Nutrabalance System of nutritional evaluation, which is applicable to the general population as a health evaluation tool.
Dr. Montante’s Nutrabalance software analysis system is used by physicians world wide to provide nutritional evaluations from laboratory measurements and he has recently introduced a simplified version of the software, called NutraCompute, to the general public for distribution in health clubs and pharmacies. He has also developed a subjective health analysis program available through the NutraCompute web site at no charge, where an on line questionnaire offers instant feedback about your health condition.
Dr. Montante is recognized as a pioneer in the field of Metabolic Nutrition. He lectures nationally giving educational seminars to health professionals, and is a regular guest on a weekly talk show in the Denver area. I wanted to talk to you about the Kelly method and also just kind of bring you up to date. That's just some of what's going on in the treatment using the Kelli system. I myself studied with the Kelly Foundation, called the Attritional Academy in 1980 in Chicago. And at that time, I decided to make a change in my my medical direction. And at that point, I was actually in ophthalmology resident. And you can say that I saw the light, so to speak, through a number of. Four, for a number of reasons, I happened to meet to meet certain people, one of which was George Goodhart. But, Dr Kelly, that Dr. Kelly's organization was one of it was one of the principal reasons why I made the switch from, if you will, a more.
You know, let's say conventional medicine, too, too, an alternative approach which we now call cause complementary.
But I was deeply impressed with Dr. Kelly's approach.
And as you may know, is is still alive today. It was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer in the 70s and began to treat himself using pancreatic enzymes. Really high doses, dosages of pancreatic enzymes. Dr. Kelly, system really has been validated to a great extent by newer, newer sort of, say, research and publications that are being done.
And the parathyroid hormone. And the parathyroid gland.
And I want to talk about this more, but it's fascinating because Dr Kelly said that they had pancreatic exams where they were the cure all to cancer and in his opinion, because cancer is a protein.
And the protea a little out again, zine's of proteases has the capacity to digest protein and to destroy the cancer protein.
And one of the principal reasons why you're pancreatic enzymes do not. Digest or breakdown in your own protein tissues is that they don't. Is that is it? Is that your normal? Cells produce alpha one antitrypsin. Which is an antidote, if you will, to the enzymatic power of the protease enzyme, basically kind of preventing. The pancreatic enzyme is from dissolving your own protein tissues. The other thing that that Dr. Kelly was able to demonstrate through his studies and research was that when you take large doses of pancreatic enzymes subliminally, that these are absorbed. Into the bloodstream. It was previously thought that this was not possible.
